Samsung Gear Live vs LG G Watch specs comparison

Android Wear Smartwatches Compared: Samsung Gear Live, LG’s G Watch & Moto 360

Google’s Android Wear smartwatches are here! Well, almost. Those from Samsung and LG are available for pre-order now, with delivery early next month. A third from Motorola arrives later this summer. Should you go for one of the July releases and if so, which one? Or should you wait on Motorola? Here’s our guide that may help.

Want Google Now For Your Wrist?

Android Wear & PhoneWhat’s especially unique about Android Wear devices compared to other smartwatches like the Pebble or the Galaxy Gear is Google Now integration.
Anyone who uses Google Now on their phone already — and loves it — may want to consider one of these. They effectively put Google Now on your wrist, along with other features such as voice search, sending and receiving messages, navigation and reminders.

Got An Android Phone?

These watches are designed to work with Android phones running 4.3 or higher (you can check your phone’s version here). Potentially in the future, they might work with the iPhone. But there’s no guarantee of that, and it wouldn’t be wise to buy one of them now in hopes of that.

Square Or Circle Face?

Assuming you’ve made it past the first two key questions above, now you’re closer to deciding which particular model you want, where one of the major differences is whether you want a square or circular face.
Both the LG “G Watch” and Samsung’s “Gear Live” have square faces. Motorola’s Moto 360 has a circular one. If the pictures below of the Moto 360′s circular face don’t appeal, then there’s no need to wait for it. Order one of the others. But if you want that circular look, then you’ll need to have some patience.

Which Look & Feel Do You Like Best?

Closely related to the type of face is the general look and feel of the watch. Do you find the design pleasing or not? Here’s a comparison of them, all of each company’s own product images:

Here’s a comparison from the devices I looked at on display at Google I/O:

For better quality images, consider Gizmodo’s close-up photos of the Moto 360, Engadget’s pictures of the Samsung Gear Live, The Verge’s photos of the LG G Watch and even further photo galleries you can find here via Techmeme.
Keep in mind that pictures don’t tell the whole story. Having tried on each of these watches yesterday at the Google I/O conference, I was surprised at how small and light the Moto 360 felt. It does have the largest face of the group, but it’s not as massive as it can seem in pictures.
Ideally, you should try them on. Samsung has said it will soon sell its watch through Best Buy, in the US. LG and Motorola are also likely to be available through some retail locations.
If you buy online, make sure you can make a return. Google Play, the only place where you can currently pre-order the LG and Samsung, gives you 15 days to return. Links to where you can buy at Google Play are at the end of this story.

Regular Strap Or Clasp?

Clasp on Samsung Gear Live

Another key difference between the watches is the straps. LG and Motorola have regular watch straps that use a buckle to secure them. Motorola also has a metal expandable band. Samsung uses a mechanism where two prongs slip into holes in the band.

From my try-on experience, I found the Samsung band to be awkward to secure. As for the LG, while it secured nicely, the plastic strap didn’t feel as nice as Motorola’s leather one.
Those are my impressions; others may feel differently, but these are things to consider that might not be obvious just from looking at the pictures.

Changeable Strap?

LG proudly highlights that you can swap out its strap for any standard strap that you’d prefer. Anyone who’s ever changed a watch strap knows how this works. There are little pins that let you remove the strap from the watch itself, to swap in another one.
Motorola has also said that its Moto 360 strap will be changeable, though it’s not clear whether third-party standard bands will work
You can’t change the strap on the Samsung. Rather, you’ll have to go with a choice of black or “wine red.”

How Well Does It Work?

If the watch is sluggish or fails to perform well, all the nice looks mean little. Unfortunately, no one really knows how well these really work. They’ve not been out to the public yet. Those shown in the Google I/O expo area yesterday to attendees were all set to demo mode, so you couldn’t test how they actually operate.
That’s about to change. All the attendees at Google I/O are getting their choice of either the LG or the Samsung today. You can expect reviews to be popping up soon — and we’ll have a story in the future with our own impressions, as we try them ourselves shortly.
Of course, the Moto 360 is still weeks, perhaps months, away. So its performance will remain a mystery for a bit longer.

Display Quality

While you won’t be staring at the watch screens as much as your phone, display might still be a key factor for some people. Both Samsung and LG have about the same screen size, but Samsung is using a slightly higher display resolution that Android Wear allows. That means it should be able to show a bit more information, or perhaps images of better quality, than the LG. But I’m not certain on this point — I’m going to track down a better answer and update.
There are other factors to consider, such as the brightness of each display, which can be dictated by the exact technology being used. But people can also have their own personal preferences. For me, the LG watch’s image felt a little more muted than the others. But it was hardly a drawback — and other factors like the physical form, look, strap and so on were more important to me. That can sound odd, but those things between the watches are more dramatic differences than the displays, from my experience with them.
By the way, Motorola hasn’t shared any of its technical specs, display or otherwise, at the Moto 360 site (link will be at the end). But it has shared some during a hangout it did earlier this year. So the chart below pulls those figures where I could find them, such as in this recap from Laptop  and this from NDTV.

Battery Life & Charging Adapters

A watch isn’t very useful if it’s constantly running out of power. LG seems to have a slight edge in having a battery capacity a bit bigger than Samsung. But it’s not that much bigger, and other factors could allow a smaller battery to do better. Until we get some real-world testing and reports, things aren’t certain. But both are saying you’ll get about a day from a full charge.
LG's charging adapter for G Watch
LG’s charging adapter for G Watch
Both the LG and the Samsung charge by means of an adapter that attaches to the watch. As a Galaxy Gear smartwatch owner, which uses a similar adapter, I can tell you that these are a pain. If you go on a trip, and forget to bring your adapter, you might find your battery drained with no way to recharge.
Motorola won’t say if it’s using an adapter or not. I had a good look at the Moto 360 yesterday, including the back, and couldn’t see any port where a charging cable might go in, nor pins that would align up with a charging adapter. CNET has a great photo of this in its own look at the Moto 360.
One thought is that the Moto 360 might be designed to work with a wireless charger. But the Moto 360 I looked at also had a thin circular cover over part of the back. This might be covering pins, though they’d have to be pretty small. Or, perhaps, there’s a false cover that doesn’t reflect what will actually ship.
It’s a mystery that Motorola sparked when it did that aforementioned hangout earlier this year, where it wouldn’t explain how charging worked. Some even wonder if the Moto 360 might get recharged using arm movement, as BGR covers, along with other theories.

Heart Rate Monitor?

Want to track your heart rate? Get the Samsung. The LG doesn’t provide this. It’s unknown if the Moto 360 does. I’ll update if I can track that down.

Water Resistant

Sound crazy to want your fancy piece of electronics to work in the water? Hey, don’t forget that we’ve had digital watches for years designed to deal with being in water.
The good news is that you don’t need to make this a decision point. All the watches provide it. But don’t go swimming with them. It’s water resistance, not water proofing. You’re protected from splashes or those brief immersions at a shallow depth.

Price!

Samsung will cost you the least, $199. The LG is a bit more, $229. Motorola hasn’t announced pricing, but The Verge found reason to believe it would be $249, based on a contest that Motorola ran.

How About A Chart?

Glad you asked. And after the chart, where to get more product information and links to purchase. Anything on the chart with a question mark means information isn’t yet known:

Abuja Explosion: President Jonathan talks tough, vows to bring perpetrators to book

OUR BELOVED COMMANDER IN CHIEF IS NOW MORE THAN EVER BEFORE READY TO BRING THE PERPETRATORS OF THE CONTINURES BOMBINGS IN THE COUNTRY TO JUSTICE.

LET'S ALL SUPPORT HIS EFFORTS IN ALL WAYS POSSIBLE!!!

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday assured Nigerians that the perpetrators and sponsors of the bomb explosion that occurred in Abuja on Wednesday would be “brought to book.”
Mr. Jonathan spoke after he visited the scene of the explosion and a hospital where survivors are being treated.
“The perpetrators of this, those who are directly involved and those who sponsor them will surely be brought to book,” he said of the blast that occurred at EMAB plaza and killed at least 21 people and injured several others.
The president also asked Nigerians to be prepared for some inconvenience that may be caused by improved security operations.
“I will use this opportunity to continue to plead with our citizens that under such situation, security operatives will come up with different options that sometimes will create some inconvenience for us,” he said. “Instead of condemning them, let us bear. We all bear some pains, from the highest to the least;
because “… as a President, I may not go to everywhere I would have loved to go, these are some of the challenges I have to face.”

“Even for our citizens, under such condition, we have reached some level of restrictions and some pains. Instead of shouting and insulting security operatives, let’s give them maximum cooperation, give them relevant information. All countries that face terror suffer the same thing; citizens give maximum cooperation to the security operatives and help to contain and control, surely we will get over this,” he added.
Mr. Jonathan, who returned to the country, Thursday, after cutting short his trip to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea for the 23rd Ordinary Session of the African Union’s Summit of Heads of State and Government, was accompanied by the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, and other top government officials.
The president, who addressed journalists after visiting the Maitama General Hospital, said it is “quite regrettable and extremely painful that when some Nigerians are struggling, thinking about how to contribute to nation development, working very hard to take care of their families, train their children, others are busy planning to kill people, intimidate people, destroy peoples’ property.”
He described the period of the attack and others by the Boko Haram insurgent group as “one of the darkest phases in the history of our nation.”
The group has killed over 12,000 people in Northern Nigeria since its insurgency began in 2009. The activities of the group led to the declaration of an existing state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states; which has not stopped them from carrying out attacks.
“But surely we will get over it,” Mr. Jonathan said. “Some other countries have passed through such cloud before and they were able to overcome it and they were able to sail through. We share the pains of the people who have been directly affected, the pains of their families, but we will surely pass through this ugly phase of our history.”
The Nigerian leader said he was already on his way out of the country when the explosion occurred.
“We are all mourning. I remember that very day we had a football match to play and all Nigerians were celebrating the Eagles hoping they were going to win,” he said. “Then, this act came up. I was airborne then, it was when I got down in Malabo that I got the information; surely we will get through this.”
A victim of the blast, whose name could not be ascertained, seized the opportunity of the President’s visit to his bedside to demand for assistance.
The victim, who was injured on his left leg, pleaded with the President to assist him start a befitting business.
“Na recharge can I dey sell for Banex Plaza. Your Excellency, I don’t have a job. See what I go through. Since yesterday I can’t sleep,” the victim said. “I finish school since no Job, I can’t go and steal na recharge card I dey sell Sir. If you people can help me to start better business to start my life again.”
In response, Mr. Jonathan said, “We are happy you are alive. Thank God you are alive. Don’t talk about business now”. Culled from Premium Times.

Ernest C. Nwankwo is married to Mr Odelia Anulika Nwankwo. Read about here
Below is an update on the story from Punch
Woman who stole co-tenant’s child is a ‘prayer warrior’ –Neighbours of kidnap suspect
Rosemary Chukwu is a member of the ritualist church that kidnapped a neigbour's 6 year old child and locked him in her toilet.
Rosemary Chukwu had become a sort of nuisance to her neighbours. Many times, they had complained about her praying habit.
“She would shout and scream and make noise while praying. She makes everybody uncomfortable. That is what everybody knows about her here. This is why we are still in shock about what she did,” said one of her neighbours at 33, Omo Ologede area in Majidun, Lagos.
But what Chukwu is currently embroiled in is simply shocking for the neighbours.
The woman allegedly stole the seven-year-old child of her neighbour, Mrs. Gloria Emeka. In fact, our correspondent learnt from neighbours who caught her in the act that the timely intervention of security agents saved her from being lynched.
When our correspondent visited Omo Ologede on Wednesday, it was noticed that Chukwu and parents of the kidnapped child were co-tenants.
Another neighbour in the same compound, Biola Odunsin, narrated how he, in conjunction with other neighbours, caught Chukwu.
He said, “It was around 6.30am today (Wednesday), when the mother of the child raised the alarm that she could not find her son, Emmanuel.
“We all rallied around her to find out what happened. She informed us that she had sent him to fetch water from the well in the compound. She raised the alarm because her son took too long and when she went to the well, she only saw the empty bucket the boy took there.
“While we were looking for the child, Rosemary (Chukwu) even came out to join in searching for the child as well. She was pitying her mother, showing concern and asking us to check some other parts of the compound.”
One of the neighbours who also took part in the search for the child, told Saturday PUNCH that Chukwu even asked him to see whether the child was in another compound not far from the house.
Two other neighbours named Yakubu and Vincent told our correspondent that they entered the well where the child was sent to fetch water.
“We entered the well to see if the boy fell inside but we found nothing,” they said.
But while the search for the child was going on, Chukwu was said to have gone inside her apartment and came out with a large luggage.
“She carried the luggage on her head and passed by us as we searched for the child. She said she needed to drop the bag somewhere and that she would come to join the search later,” Odunsin said.
But a suspicious woman, the wife of the landlord of the house, alerted the search party, telling them to search the bag Chukwu had on her head before she was allowed to leave.
When the residents called after her to tell her to bring the bag for a check, she reportedly began to run. But a moment later, she was caught.
“We immediately opened the bag and inside was Emmanuel with a cloth used to gag him. The child would have died because he could not speak again. We tried hard before we could resuscitate him,” Odunsi explained.
However, the infuriated neighbours descended on Chukwu and while they were beating her, she screamed out that they should spare her because she was only a messenger.
“Pastor Ernest sent me! Please don’t kill me, Pastor Ernest sent me o!” she was reported to have told the party of residents.
Then Chukwu took the party to the church of the pastor who she claimed sent her, which turned out to be Pastor Ernest Nwankwo of the Holy Family Happy Family Ministry (House of Mercy), Majidun.
One of the residents who took Chukwu to the church said by the time they got there, the pastor was nowhere to be found. She was later handed over to the police who took her away.
A photograph of Chukwu obtained by our correspondent showed a plump, fair complexioned woman with a motherly face. She is said to have four children – two boys and two girls.
Neighbours said they had not seen her husband, as he was usually away from home even though they are still together.
When our correspondent visited the church on Wednesday, a crowd of residents had besieged the place, barely kept at bay by some sternly looking policemen who were said to have prevented the church from being burnt down earlier by angry residents.
Despite this, some youths had succeeded in entering the church before the police came and seized hundreds of audio CDs of an album recorded by the pastor.
The youths publicly and excitedly sold the CDs on the Ikorodu Road to motorists and passers-by for N50 each.
The policemen rebuffed every attempt to gain access to the empty church, while residents of houses nearby could not provide any information about the whereabouts of the pastor.
Some residents who pleaded anonymity informed Saturday PUNCH that the church was not a conventional one.
“They don’t hold service on Sundays, only on Tuesday and Thursday. The pastor claims to treat mad men,” one of them told our correspondent.
An eyewitness, who entered the church before police intervention, said when they stormed the church earlier, they met a man with his hands and legs shackled in chains.
“I am not a mad man. Please help me! I was taken from around Redeemed Church Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Pastor Ernest kept me here. There were many of us but they usually come to take away,” the man, who gave his name as Onuora Okeke, was reported to have said. The man also revealed to the people that he was from Anambra State and had been locked up in the church since 2012. Our correspondent learnt the man was taken away by the police.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the Chukwu would soon be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for investigation.
She also confirmed that the pastor of the church has not been found.
Pls leave a comment on you take.

Ritualists Den (Owned by a supposed pastor) Uncovered in Ikorodu

A ritualist den owned by one pastor Ernest Nwankwo, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy was yesterday June 25th uncovered at Ogolonto area in Ikorodu, Lagos, with 8 victims rescued.

According to Vanguard, the den was discovered after a failed attempt by a woman identified as Mrs Rosemary Chukwu, a member of Pastor Nwankwo's church, to kidnap her neighbor's 7 year old son, Emeka Emmanuel to the den for rituals.

Sources in the area said around 6.30 am yesterday, Mrs Chukwu lured the little boy who was on his way to fetch water from a well down the road and took him to her house where she locked him in the toilet. To keep her neighbors from hearing the little boy's screams for help, Chukwu then instructed her own children to begin a prayer session which they did, shouting on top of their voices. Continue...
Trouble however started when the boy's mother who stays four buildings from Mrs Chukwu raised alarm after she could not find her son. A search for the young boy began which Mrs Chukwu also partook in. Minutes into the search, Mrs Chukwu was said to have excused herself, went into her house and then came out with a box on her head, saying she was travelling. Suspecting foul play, some of the area boys instructed her to put down the suitcase which was opened and the unconscious body of the 7 year old boy was discovered.

A resident of the area, Oyetoye Gbemi who spoke with Vanguard said the area boys descended on her and she confessed it was her pastor who sent her
"She told us she was travelling to the village. But one of the area boys who was among the search party, ordered his colleagues to search the box. Immediately she heard that, she flung the box away and took to her heels. We all suspected something was amiss. When the box was opened, Emmanuel was found inside, half dead. The area boys descended on her and stripped her naked. On interrogation, she said her pastor, the General Overseer of Holy Family Ministry a.k.a House of Mercy, asked her to bring the boy. The area boys followed her to 319, Lagos Road, Ikorodu, where the church is situated, where they saw her pastor waiting for her. But on sighting the crowd, he took to his heels. But for the arrival of Policemen from Owutu division, the woman would have been lynched. The angry mob also attempted to set the church ablaze but were also prevented by the policemen. They, however, succeeded in torching some parts of the property.” he said
In the process of chasing the fleeing Pastor and burning some part of the church building, area boys forced open a door to a building at 7, Oshodi Street, which was directly at the back of the church building and owned by Pastor Ernest. To everyone's amazement, men and women, eight in number, chained and looking frail were found in the building. The captives upon interrogation said they were kidnapped from various places like Ogun, Anambra, Bayelsa and Oyo states. One of the captives, a 50 year old woman said she was kidnapped while returning from a night vigil. One of the rescued victim, 52 year old man pictured above without a shirt said he was a commercial bus driver and was kidnapped two years ago.

Residents in the area said the building owned by the pastor had always been under suspicion as no one ever saw anyone coming out or going in during the day. They said most of the activities carried out in the building is usually done at night.
Police sources confirmed the arrest of Mrs Chukwu while her pastor is currently on the run.
